"Hometown & Stomping Ground" The small town and big city that have defined my life and hold my heart. Come see my newest exhibit which will be on display this November at The Avid Reader called "Hometown & Stomping Ground", a photo essay exploring my adopted hometown of Davis, California and surrounding Yolo County, and the big beautiful city of Providence, Rhode Island and its nearby coasts and country, where I lived and learned as a young adult. An artists reception will be held on November 10th from 6:30pm-7:30pm where you can see my work, meet me, and sample a variety of foods representative of each region. There will also be live music by the very talented guitarist and singer/songwriter Adam Mish! Well it's been one hell of a busy couple months! In addition to preparing an upcoming art show in November (more on that later) I recently returned from an impromptu trip out east to Boston and Providence. Though I've yet to sort through the massive collection of photos, I wanted to share a few of my favorite Instagram snaps from my trip. Speaking of which I have returned to Instagram after years of abandonment so feel free to follow. Heading out from Sac to Boston with a layover in LAX. I do love SMF, such a nice airport. Exploring the farm coast with my sister, driving down 77 to Sakonnet Point Lighthouse. Weaving of Amy C. Lund's handweaving studio in Tiverton. Out and about in Providence. Pictured: Providence Athenaeum, Prospect Terrace Park, first Baptist Church in US. On Providence's east side. Pictured: retouching to Wickenden's resident aquarium shop mural, signage on Thayer, and a memorial to British tea burning on Main. Providence! Pictured: city skyline, Providence river walk, that old mill off the freeway they've been renovating for years. Castle Hill Lighthouse! Pictured: the lighthouse, ocean spray on the cliffs, and a view down Ocean Drive. And on the subject, there was a massive pile of seaweed on Ocean Drive where the road budges right up to the water, and a massive wave crashed over the barrier. Wish I'd gotten a photo of that. After Providence I headed back to Boston to see a friend. Pictured: someone reading an actual book on the commuter rail, a fire station in Dorchester, and the friend in question. Part 1 of the journey home, Boston to Minneapolis. Pictured: a rocking chair at Logan (you bet that's where I sat and waited for my flight), Minneapolis out the plane window, and a spectral glory cast by the plane on ascent. Descent into Sacramento at sunset. What a sight.
